As a timeline for planning your wedding flowers you should have at least selected
the ceremony and reception sites and hopefully your bride's maids dress color.
You can't really talk about specific flowers without knowing the most important
and that is color. For me, having the right colors overrides specific types
of flowers that a bride likes. For instance, if there are no red calla lilies
and if you want red and love callas, you're going to have to either change
from red to white or yellow or find a different flower. Florists often suggest
roses as part of the floral mix because they have more control over colors
and better availability year round. Once you have the locations and colors
determined, it's time to find your florist. Ask friends and your reception
location for recommendations as to which ones you may want to visit. Recently
married brides can tell you if they were happy with their vendors. Go on line
to bridal chat rooms too for answers. Then, make a visit to the florists on
your list and get ideas and prices. If you have at least a rough idea of your
flower budget, the florist can do a much better job of making suggestions for
decorations that will fit that budget. If you don't tell them, they are only
guessing at trying to come up with something that will make you happy and fit
in to your overall plans.
