Wedding Officiants

If you are not getting married in a church setting and are looking for an officiant to perform your ceremony, here are a few questions to ask yourself and of course the officiant.

  1. Is the officiant available on your wedding day?
  2. Can the officiant travel to your chosen wedding site?
  3. Does he/she charge a standard fee and if so, what does it cover?
  4. Is the officiant willing to discuss non-traditional wedding ceremonies and traditions?
  5. Does the officiant require pre-marital or religious counseling before getting married?
  6. Will the officiant let you specify ceremony details such as music, readings and vows?
  7. Do they have sample vows and readings to show you?
  8. Is the officiant available for a ceremony rehearsal?
  9. And of course, after meeting with the officiant, ask yourself if you think they are a right fit for you. Did they seem genuinely interested in you as a couple?
  10. Also, if you feel like you need some help with creating your vows ask your officiant to assist.
