If you have been wedding dress shopping lately then you are aware that the wedding industry has creatively come up with 5 or more different shades of white! Like everything wasn't complicated enough right?! The plus side is, having different shades of white to chose from helps every bride, no matter what her skin tone, finds the most flattering white for her.  So, how do you determine that?

It's all in your skin tone. Different skin tones match well together with different shades of white making your skin stand out. For example, a woman with very fair skin shouldn't buy a dress that is bright white. It will drain the look on her and will not flatter her skin tones. A good rule of thumb is that the closer a white shade is to your skin color, the more it will wash you out.

White
The brightest, crispest white you can find. This shade tends to complement darker skin the most.

Silk, Diamond, or Natural White
A softer shade of white. Although it looks pretty close to the same shade as stark white in photos, most skin shades look best in a soft, diamond-white gown

Ivory
Also referred to as "eggshell" or "candlelight." Some ivory dresses have yellow undertones, making them look creamy. While, this shade usually looks best on women with fair or medium skin with pink undertones, women with yellow or olive skin tones should steer clear.  

Rum or Champagne
Rum is a white with pink undertones that looks nearly white in photos while champagne has an almost gold sheen. These shades complement women with darker or yellow skin tones.
