Your Music Style

Music is one of those amazing gifts that we have been given in life. Within an instant, one song can magically take you back in time to a specific time and/or place in your life. We know from research into the psychology of memory and emotion that in events of high emotional charge and change, the brain takes a 'recording' of all the other things that were going on at that heightened moment. That is why years from now, a lot of your guests might forget about how great your cake tasted or how beautiful your flower arrangements were, but they will always remember what a great time they had (or the fool that they made of themselves) dancing at your wedding reception. And that is just one of the many reasons that music is such a key element of your wedding.

Where to start...
You first need to sit down with your finance' and decide what type of "feel" you want your wedding to have and how much room in the budget you have to achieve it. Will it be formal and traditional where a String Quartet or Woodwind Ensemble would be fitting? Are you envisioning a more, old fashioned, 50's styled wedding where a Brass Ensemble would be perfect? Or are you wanting a little bit of everything and like the option of having varying sounds from different bands leading you in the direction of a DJ? Or maybe you are lucky enough to have both! We are not just talking about the music at your reception.

Don't forget about the option of adding other music pieces to your ceremony. Having the gentle melodies of a Harpist, Flutist, Violinist, a Bagpiper, or Acoustic Guitarist during the prelude to your ceremony can add an air of distinction and sentiment. There are quite a few different options out there, you just need to sit down and make sure that you and your hubby-to-be are on the same page about the style of the wedding and what you are willing to spend. Don't forget what a wonderful element of your wedding the music you choose will be. Years down the road, hearing you and your husband's song is going to take you to a whole new memory!
