When deciding on a wedding date, there are a few dates you might want to consider. Check the calendar for national holidays, local events, or religious holidays that might adversely affect your guest list or attendance.
• Scheduling your wedding date around a holiday has it’s advantages and disadvantages. You may have the extra time off of work or school for the holiday, but if travel is involved for your family and guests, travel and hotels costs tend to be higher. Plus, some families have standing holiday traditions in place that they may not want to rearrange.
• Pay attention to any local events that tend to be largely celebrated in your area, such as annual Festivals, Parades, Mardi Gras, etc.
• Pay attention to religious holidays that may affect your family or guests. Check with your place of worship to make sure that weddings are even held on the date, or at the time of day, that you are considering.
